About The Teacher
HELLO. My name is Valarie R. Porter.  I am originally from Virginia and relocated to Georgia in September 2006.  I am looking forward to being your child’s Pre-K classroom teacher this year. Please allow me the opportunity to introduce myself to you. I graduated from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa  after successfully completing the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, I have continued to further my learning by enrolling in the University of Maryland University College's Master of Education program. I am currently working on my Master of Arts degree from Ashford University. After completing my Master's I will further my education in pursuing my Doctoral degree. This will be my first Pre-K class at Mother Hubbard's Early Learning Center, Inc.. My hope is that this year in Pre-K will be as wonderful for your child.
Prior to Mother Hubbard's Early Learning Center, I have had the experience of working with children in the role as a Paraprofessional at the Elementary grade levels, Middle School, and High School levels. I have also worked in private preschool center  in the capacity of Lead Teacher.  I am the mother of two wonderful daughters.
It will be my pleasure to work with you and your child this year. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share in your child's Pre-K learning experience with you. I feel blessed to have been given this opportunity because I truly do enjoy what I do. Working as a teacher is very demanding but also rewarding. "It will not matter the size of my house or the size of my bank account but what will matter is that I have made a difference in the life of a child." My goal is to make a significant, positive contribution to my own children whom I love very much, the district, the community, the center, and of course your child.
Some of my favorite quotes are: "A work of art is above all an adventure for the mind." --Eugene Ionesco  "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the tradewinds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."  ... Mark Twain
