My role as a teacher is to adjust the curriculum to include subjects or events that my students find interesting. I believe that students should have an input in what they are being taught. As a teacher, I will explore all kinds of student suggestions. Teaching is a lifelong learning process of learning about new philosophies and new strategies, learning from the parents and community, learning from colleagues, and especially learning from the children. Children have taught me to open my mind and my heart to the joys, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world. Because of this, I will never forget how to smile with the new, cherish the old, and laugh with the children. My classroom will be a caring, safe, and equitable environment where each child can blossom and grow. I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. I will help children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals. I will allow children to become responsible members of our classroom community by using strategies such as class meetings, positive discipline, and democratic principles. In showing children how to become responsible for themselves as well as their own learning; I am giving them the tools to become successful in life, to believe in them selves, and to love them selves. I believe the learning environment of a classroom impacts student learning. My role as a teacher is to make supplies available, lighting and temperature comfortable and seating enjoyable. I believe that teaching is something that every teacher has to personalize for themselves. My role as a teacher is to incorporate group-work, visual, audio, and mental activities to make the greatest impact on student learning. I want my classroom to be fun and an easy place to learn so that students can succeed. I believe that motivation comes from many different people: other students, teachers, parents, and community members. My role as teacher is to get all of these groups involved in my classroom. Students work much harder when they are motivated to do something. The most effective way to teach is by keeping a positive classroom and encouraging every student to do their best. Motivation is one of the greatest strengths I bring to teaching; therefore I am going to motivate my students to want to excel.
